The Foundation

After graduating from UCLA with Cum Laude Honors in 2004, Sean began his career learning the ins and outs of the real estate market, while helping process residential mortgages. At the age of 20, he bought his first property with his brother Colin — a duplex in one of the roughest parts of Los Angeles. After a six month renovation, they successfully rented the property to excellent tenants.

In 2004, Sean became a Banking Analyst at Comerica Bank. While there, he trained at the company’s credit college, graduated #1 in his class, and went on to enhance their underwriting process to better serve middle market banking clients.

Simultaneously, he founded Blackhawk Capital Group — now a best in class, full-service real estate and mortgage brokerage. He served as CEO and represented numerous customers as a real estate agent. To date, Blackhawk has expanded into multiple states and has driven more than $500 million in real estate transactions.

Sean joined GMAC RESCAP in 2006 where he spent two years growing the company and mastering the real estate development finance market. In 2006, he saw signs of the real estate market overheating and sold his Los Angeles duplex — he and his brother made six figures each on the transaction.

After leaving GMAC RESCAP in 2008, Sean decided to take his savings and join his friend Eric in shorting banking institutions that had been irresponsibly lending. The duo also purchased a diesel truck with a camper and converted it to run on vegetable oil. They then trekked from Newport Beach, California to Chile on vegetable oil donated from taco stands and restaurants — plus support from Oakley, TAVIK, Ben Harper’s Foundation, and others.

The year-long experience inspired Sean to partner with Eric to export big rig trucks from the US to Chile. They successfully transported more than 20 trucks from late 2008-2009, for a substantial profit.
